PORT AUX BASQUES – During a Town council meeting on Aug. 24, Coun. Melvin Keeping had sounded the alarm that the Director of Health Services, a position held at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, would be relocating to Corner Brook, along with the person currently holding the position. However, Western Health has since clarified that the position will actually remain in Port aux Basques.
“The Director of Health Services at LeGrow Health Care Centre is an important local leadership position, responsible for day-to-day site clinical operations for acute, outpatient, and long-term care. Western Health recognizes the importance of local management support,” stated Connie Boland, communication officer with Western Health.
Despite the rumors, the individual holding the position will be filling another role when he leaves Port aux Basques, and the position for Director of Health Services is now open to applications.
Confirmed Boland, “The current incumbent has accepted another position within Western Health. The Director of Health Services at LeGrow Health Care Centre position has been advertised and is currently listed on the Western Health job board as per the usual process. The closing date is 9/2/2021. The position is not being relocated.”
